At Le Sous-bois hostel, we have put the quiet time at 11pm for 2008 insteat of 10h30 like it was last year. You will enjoy that, I hope. On the other hand, we will be very strict about the respect of that rule. The place will have to be completely silent for the whole night. For those who are very sound sensitive, there are free earplugs for you to use but please throw them in the garbage after you are done.

Why there is no breakfast anymore - Il n'y a plus de d�jeuner parce que...

People were complaining that the bagels were heavy, that there was no more milk or that there should be some fruits and cereals.� In fact, the Montreal bagels are internationaly known and for 19$ a day, we cannot provide linen, free calls in North America, free wireless high speed internet, free laundry AND full breakfast.� On top of that, we had to wash the dishes everyday because guests would not take two minutes to do their own...� so sorry�for those�who are use to�have breakfast here, it was a pleasure to give it to you, and many thousand�dollars,�I�have to mention it.� We might bring it back for the summer, depending if people still reserve at a higher price.�

Les gens se plaignaient souvent sur l'internet, disant que les bagels �taient lourds, qu'ils avaient manqu� de lait ou de th�, qu'il aurait fallu ajouter des fruits et des c�r�ales.� En fait, les bagels de Montr�al sont reconnus de loin et pour 19$ par jour, on ne peut offrir toutes les gratuit�s et un d�jeuner complet.� En plus, les gens ne faisaient pas leur vaisselle, ce qui ajoutait au poids de travail des employ�s qui voyaient bien qu'il y avait un abus.� Alors d�sol�, apr�s trois ans, on cesse d'offrir le petit d�jeuner, �a a �t� un plaisir de vous l'offrir, et des milliers de dollars, il faut le mentioner.� Peut-�tre va-t-on le remettre cet �t� mais il faudra que les clients r�servent quand�m�me � un prix plus �lev�.

Portez donc des bottes imperm�ables, parce que lorsque tout cela va fondre, on a beau faire de notre mieux pour faire �couler tout �a, ce sera quand m�me difficile!

So wear waterproof shoes, because when it will all melt, we cannot guarantee your feet won't get wet.

Bring comfortable warm slippers

You should also bring a bag to put your dirty stuff because we don't appreciate seeing it!� We like when you help us keeping the place clean just by keeping in mind that we see your stuff.� Also, don't bring your pillow or sleeping bag.� That is for your safety because there is always a risk something alive and harmful will get into it and invade your house!

Between the 6 and 16 of march, you'll be able to see plenty of films on all type of arts, from the sculpture to fashion, passing by performing art. You just have to go on the web site www.artfifa.com to see what's on the program. Many cinemas in Montreal are part of this festival. You'll see movies from different countries around the world. Just check for the language. Almost all films are subtitled in french and in english.

This montreal hostel is a project started by a courageous couple with children.� It is not owned by a big company or a big organization.� Every solution is creative and it shows in the ambiance.� There are some values behind all that that needs to be shared and told, like to never have a curfew (what a rude thing to do), to provide good security and a hygienic place.� Also, we would never close the reception at night just in case someone's flight is late.� We would never attract the customer with low prices and charge extra for blankets, internet, laundry and earplugs.� But back to the baby: it is a boy and we all look forward to meet with him.

No more bed bugs!

In 2007, we had to face big challenges with these manifestations of a creative Nature.�� We spent many thousands on facing the problem.� The product we were using at first was the permethrine, but the bugs are resistant. We hired another exterminator with a variety of products. We haven't had a case in a while now.� But to be honest, we can never take anything for granted.� In fact, they travel in the luggage so they could colonize the place again.� Because of that, we need you to be careful for us.� The whole experience has been very painful for us and we appreciate your understanding.

New: smoking allowed on the terrasse.

For the last three years, smoking was not allowed on our superb terrasse.� But this year you could smoke but please use the ash trays.� An extinguished cigarette on the�ground is disgusting.� Many thanks!
